Thomas’ secondment

During this secondment, I conducted several enzymatic assays to assess the activity of NAD⁺-related enzymes in different adipocyte samples, with the assistance of the postdoctoral researcher and the NADIS PhD student in the lab. I learned how to perform these assays independently and how to quantify protein levels in adipocytes.

Living in Genoa was a stark contrast to Oulu in terms of weather, population density, noise levels, and food quality. I stayed in private accommodation close to the university laboratory. The secondment also allowed me to travel to several cities and villages in Italy, enjoying a wide range of Italian landscapes and the milder autumn climate.
