NAD+ in adipose tissue aging
Raúl Pérez Mato, NADIS doctoral candidate at the University of Genoa, performed a secondment at the University of Copenhagen, in Nov-Dec 2023, with the aim of studying NAD+ in white and brown adipose tissue in the context of aging. This secondment represented the first step in a collaboration between the two laboratories in Genoa and Copenhagen focusing on a study that will exploit a premature aging mouse model of the Cockayne syndrome (a genetic disorder characterized by premature aging), and mice in which the NAD+ consuming enzyme CD38 had been knockedout, to understand the role of NAD+ in adipose tissue during aging.
